Common Questions
What's the difference between Eco, Eco+ and Fast modes?
Fast mode charges at full speed (7.4 kW) regardless of solar — useful when you need a full charge quickly. Eco mode uses a mix of solar excess and grid power to maintain a minimum charge rate. Eco+ mode charges exclusively from solar excess that would otherwise be exported — meaning you charge for free during the day when solar is producing more than your home is using. Most solar homeowners use Eco+ as their default.
Does the Zappi work without solar panels?
Yes — in Fast mode the Zappi works exactly like any other EV charger, drawing from the grid at full speed. If you plan to add solar in the future, the Zappi is the smart choice now since you won't need to replace it later.
Can I use the Zappi with a home battery?
Yes — the Zappi works alongside home batteries. With smart configuration, you can set it to charge from solar during the day, and from the battery in the evening, minimising grid draw entirely. We configure this during installation.
Is the Zappi suitable for all EVs?
Yes — the Zappi uses a universal Type 2 connector, compatible with all current Australian EVs including BYD, Tesla (with adapter), Hyundai, Kia, and all others sold in Australia.
